swans drop by for a visit

Last spring this swan pair were regulars for lunch. I had not seen them for three months. Must have been out of town.
So when I saw them coming up the creek I got my digital camera out and some food ready.
This shot is my favorite. I liked the way they were cruising, making a wake in the still water
Better swan composition not as interesting water

These shots were taken into PhotoShop and minipulated in Lab as follows:

First two shots and last one:

Lab > curves 10% straight line curve on a and b and a slight curve in lightness. (Steepen the line 10% on each side in both a and b.

Third and fourth shots:

I was going to do the same thing but it muddied up the contrast between the colors which was a surprise. So these shots got only an s curve on the lightness channel of lab.

Lab > curves > Lightness channel > slight curve

This might seem pedantic but I am always playing in PhotoShop and appreciate a tip on how others do things. ms

These are mute swans. They are huge. Their feet are the size of a man's hand. Earlier in the year they would swim with their wings up presenting a classic swan look. I am not sure but they might be starting to molt. Not sure.
