The Wappingers Creek Flood of 1955
Here is the building that houses the power generators. View is looking upstream with the studio to the right across the stream just out of the picture. This building is across the creek and 150 feet upstream from the studio. Same view today. There is a mark scratched into the brick by the door that is six feet above the roadway marking the high water mark.
Water is over the bridge. View of building after waters receded. Originally this building housing pumping machinery that pumped water into a reservoir above Wappingers Falls that contained the village drinking water. Some of that water was also run through the power station.
View from the bridge. Note the wall is gone. The building was not used until about 2000 when George bought and restored the building to the jewel that it is today.
