Steve was the model. This was very helpful in looking at his feet and sculpting. It is far superior to relying on photographs. I also used my collection of Michael Johnson photographs from my Nike commission as well. At the time I photographed him, he was the world record holder in the 200 and 400 meter dash. He is a check on good proportion. I have considered it a privilege to sculpt Michael Johnson. See images here… and here…
I also used a mirror on my left leg as well.
This leg is a combination of Steve Speaker, Michael Johnson and myself.
Steve who is 6' 2" gives a sense of scale.
Height is 78 inches. Foot is 36 inches long. It will shrink 6% in the casting process to about 72 inches
There is no truth to the rumor that Steve is expecting a flood.
