Cast marble is marble chips suspended in a medium of Forton MG. The mixture is one and a half marble chips to one part Forton MG. See image to right.

Forton MG (Modified Gypsum) is a hydrocal combined with a polamar liquid, hardener and catalyst. My favorite part is that it is non toxic and relatively inexpensive compared to bronze or polyurethane. Bronze is more expensive and takes a long time to run through a foundry. Polyurethane is slightly more expensive than Forton and toxic. This process saves time and money and health…and it looks good and is permanant.
