Tops of Drawers |
Amboyna Burl on the Drawer Tops It only makes sense that when you open a drawer you expect to see what is inside. If this fellow was a lab specimin on a glass slide, he would have a nice layer of fat on the outside and followed by muscle and other inside the body stuff. To accomplish this, I used amboyna burl where the outside is a lighter color (fat) and the inside is the reddish color (other body stuff). Another view of the herringbone tiles and the handles to open drawers. Also note the ebony on the sides of each drawer. These are the rail system that the drawers ride. It is an homage to the Architects and designers Greene and Greene who designed the Gamble House in Pasadena, CA. They employed this system and I use it every chance I get. |
