Drawers Open - Rear View The seven drawers are solid maple all have hand cut dovetails. The trim is amboyna, the reddish wood in front. The “handles” use what is there to open. The top three drawers use the lapel, the fourth drawer is gripped from below the coat in front, and the side of the three bottom drawers have a gouged out “handle” on each side. The carcass flairs from the middle of the piece and the corners are trimmed with ebony. The plains on the sides, back and front are slightly dished. Note the “wrinkles in the leg on the left side of the piece as well as the movement of the coat generated by the hand in the pocket from the front of the coat to the wrinkle going down the back and under the left arm. Good view of the transition from bas relief to three dimensions. |
